A Bali Story

Go After Jahat

You can’t tell Jahat from the other floating crewmembers by their flailing feet, so you use your gift and create a wave that pushes all of them underwater. Their faces appear clear to you under the sea. You spot Jahat, grab him by his ankle and drag him into the deep blue.

Your rage consumes you. You lose track of how long you’ve been under water. It crosses your mind that you’ve never killed anyone before. You wonder if you can do it. You wonder if you’ve already done it.

“Can I live with killing someone?” You ask yourself. “If he is still alive, do I want to kill him? How would I do it? I could make him drown. I could let him go right now and it would be up to him to survive. I could cut him and let the sharks have their way with him. Or I could drag him back to the mainland and turn him in to the authorities.”
